Microneedling
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves creating controlled micro-injuries to the skin using a device called a dermaroller or a microneedling pen. These tiny punctures stimulate the skin’s natural healing process, promoting collagen and elastin production, and improving the overall texture and appearance of the skin.
The microneedles used in the procedure are typically very small, ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 millimeters in length. The depth of the needles can be adjusted based on the specific skin concerns being addressed. The most common areas treated with microneedling include the face, neck, and décolletage, but it can also be used on other parts of the body.
The micro-injuries created by the microneedling device stimulate the body’s natural healing response, leading to increased collagen and elastin production. This process helps to improve skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimize acne scars, and even out skin tone and texture. Additionally, microneedling can enhance the absorption and effectiveness of topical skincare products that are applied after the procedure.
After the microneedling session, a soothing serum or calming mask may be applied to the treated area to promote healing and minimize any temporary redness or inflammation. The skin may appear slightly red or feel sensitive immediately after the procedure, but these effects usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days.
